Photographers are always looking for good and goodlooking ways to show and preserve their work. For a student of the Fotovakschool I made this customized A3 portfoliomap.
This A3 portfoliomap works with book screws, so the content can be changed according to the occassion the portfoliomap is used for. When you order a portfoliomap Prien always delivers two sizes of book screws, so you can determine yourself how many sheets you want to add.
The cover has been personalized according to the wishes of the client. She loved the colour of the ribbon which she bought a long time ago. The thickness and width of this turquoise ribbon fitted exactly, so it formed the basis of the cover design. The client also found the beautiful button in a lovely store in Amersfoort full of ribbons and buttons … it is on my wishlist to pay it a visit soon!
To personalize the A3 portfoliomap the name of the photographer – Tosca van der Zijden Fotografie – has been added to the cover.

Graduating from the Fotovakschool is a very special moment, an occasion which asks for a special presentation of the photos. For this graduating student I made a basic box, so all the attention goes to the content. We did some tests with colors, different types of cardboard and sizes, especially the height of the box. The result is a sturdy, basic box. Good for presentation, as a portfolio box and of course a good keeper for the original photo series.
The design of the box is based on the traditional Japanese Box. Instead of covering the box with bookcloth on the outside and paper on the inside, we haven chosen to show the material of which the box is made of; cardboard. The hinges have been glued carefully and are equipped with bookcloth, so they are firm, sturdy and a real eye catcher. Inside the box there is a ribbon, so the photos can be taken out easily. Unlike the traditional Japanese Boxes, this box has an invisible closure. Four carefully placed magnets make sure that the box closes really tight.
This is just one variation, looking for a portfolio box or having questions? Please contact me to talk about the possibilities at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to hearing from you!
